C.L. Carden is a longtime friend of Mark Prater. After much debate over writing a book, Prater said, "I won't write a book of this experience unless Carden writes it. He is absolutely the most gifted writer I've ever met or read." Carden formerly worked with Prater as a co-anchor in television news broadcasting in Birmingham, Alabama. He is presently an officer for the New Jersey State Government and is also writing his first children's book.

Carden comes from a long line of talented writers. His grandmothers have both had worked published over the years. Carden has picked up that torch and taken it to a national level writing Silent Storm for Mark Prater. Carden lives in central New Jersey with his wife and two children.
